Most everybody that comes to Singapore immediately thinks of cheap electronics goods. Well, it's not as cheap as a decade ago but you are probably still going to better of here than 'back home'. Because GST is low, and because the enormous competition, prices are low and stocks contain the newest of the new.
When you ask where to shop for electronics the answer will certainly contain Funan (the IT mall) and Sim Lim square, these 2 centers particularly target electronics buyers and more than 80% (or more) of the shops sell it. Because of this high concentration of shops selling basically the same the prices do not vary that much and will definitely be reasonable.
Other places with a lot of electronics shops are in the Orchard road area, such as Far East Plaza and Lucky Plaza. These places however cater more for tourists and though you can get good deals you will definitely need to know the rough price and be able to bargain (hard).
Most smaller shopping centers will also have electronics outlets and price levels here may vary but are generally reasonable too, particularly in non-chain or small chain stores. We've, for instance, heard good things about 'Parisilk' in Holland village, not much room for bargaining but good starting prices. The variety will be a bit more limited though.
