Many people who move to Singapore alone are faced with an immediate problem: loneliness. You probably don't know anyone here, and to go out alone is not your idea of an evening of great fun.
Even if you know only one person, expanding your network of friends in Singapore is much easier because of introductions to his/her friends, being invited to his/her friend's parties etc. But how do you find that first person?
The easiest way to find new friends (with of without further intentions) is to find a date online. In Singapore, dating via a dating site is not that uncommon and many people do this. This is why there is a large selection of Singapore dating websites available, both paid as well as free of charge. Even the government has an official dating programme!
Dating online has a big advantage: you can 'get to know' several people online before you decide who to ask out for an evening of clubbing.
The female readers of this section should however be prepared for some disappointments. There regularly are articles in the various periodicals on the 'problems' for female professionals in finding a partner, particularly caucasians. Various reasons are brought-up for this such as simple physique; caucasian ladies tend to be a bit taller on average and it is a fact most men prefer their partner to be shorter. Another problem appears to be that a successful professional woman (of any race) is, rightly or wrongly, considered more 'high maintenance' and more (too) direct. This all does off course not mean dating for you is a lost cause but it may be a bit harder than 'back home'.
In any event; Have fun!
