XpatXperience / Lifestyle / Breaks in Indonesia

Indonesia is far too big to capture in a few sentences and it has much to see and do. The indonesian rupiah is cheap and there are a number of flights going direct to the main islands. You will need a visa, for most this can be purchased on arrival but not for all so do check before you leave!

Beach / Diving outings
If you just want a break from it all and hang around the pool and the beach for a couple of days and maybe do some snorkeling or diving these are some options:
  • Bali; Off course, close enough for a long weekend it is one of THE island destinations. Many hotels and resorts, great beaches and a lot of temples and countryside to see too.
  • Batam; Very close to Singapore there are some decent hotels and beaches.
  • Bintan; Close to Singapore with some good resorts but very geared to Singapore and sometimes you feel you are still in Singapore, better for golfing than the beach.
For more details on diving also check our 'diving from Singapore' pages.
Golfing
  • Bintan; Some very decent golf courses attached to resorts, good for a weekend or even a Sunday, check your credit card for deals at them.
